1. SEEN BY OLIVER – The new bar of the historic Hotel Tivoli
BOOK A TABLE AT THE SEEN LISBOA >>> HERE
Opened in November 2018, SEEN will very quickly become the new place to be in Lisbon. Why ? An ideal location in one of the best luxury hotels in Lisbon, a splendid view of the city and a renowned chef ! On the 9th floor of the 5-star Tivoli Liberdade Hotel, Chef Olivier Costa now runs SEEN Lisboa. A totally renovated, modernised and redesigned space that opens up to the best of its ability to offer a magnificent view of the Portuguese capital. A bar stands at the entrance with a central tree trunk and artificial leaves spreading over the ceiling of the entire room. The excellent homemade cocktails are offered by the mixologist Lucas Jacques. The other remarkable element of the decoration is a giant sofa that winds through the room to the sushi counter. The dining room is the space that offers this breathtaking view of the historic centre of Lisbon. The restaurant only opens for dinner and offers a friendly menu, based on sharing. The menu is partly inspired by Brazilian popular tables, the dishes offered are of high quality and very well executed. The proposals are rather modern or traditional dishes revisited. Many dishes are vegan and the meat is of high quality. The desserts are also excellent. SEEN is an ideal place to start the evening. For the information, the place is next door to the very famous Sky Bar in Tivoli, which I tell you about in my article on the best rooftops in Lisbon.

2. RIVE-ROUGE – Opening of the dance floor at 5pm !
Rive-Rouge is a nightclub that opened in November 2016. It benefits from an exceptional location because it is located on the 1st floor of the Mercado da Ribeira, Lisbon’s most famous market, which also houses the famous Time Out Market. The place has the same owners as the famous LUX discotheque, located in the Santa Apolónia district. The originality of the club is that it opens its doors at 5pm, which is a very good after-work address. The decoration of the place is rather industrial with high chairs and metal structures. We quickly understand the reason for the name Rive Rouge with the predominance of red colour in the discotheque. Every evening, 2 teams of DJs take turns at the turntables.

José Avillez is undoubtedly one of the greatest Portuguese chefs, he has 2 Michelin stars for his restaurant Belcanto (about which I tell you in my article on Lisbon’s Michelin starred restaurants). It also has an impressive number of restaurants in the Portuguese capital and in Porto. One of its most successful projects is the Bairro do Avillez, a hybrid place with a delicatessen and several restaurants under the same roof : Taberna, Páteo and Beco – Cabaret Gourmet. Here we are interested in the Cabaret area, which only opens in the evening and offers a dinner and show. The concept is simple : the cabaret only opens in the evening and is only accessible to those over 18 years old. Inside, it is forbidden to take pictures. A show accompanied by a gourmet meal is offered every evening from Wednesday to Saturday evening between 8:30 pm and 10:45 pm. The tasting menu includes 12 courses and is offered at 95€ per person. In the immediate vicinity are already many restaurants and discos well known from the Lisbon night. The place is hybrid and is committed to being both a bar/restaurant and a disco with an amazing terrace less than 3 meters from the Tagus. The menu highlights traditional Portuguese dishes and Mediterranean cuisine. Upstairs, the room is transformed into a disco every weekend. In the 1990s, it was even considered the 3rd best nightclub in the world. Many national and international DJs started their careers at the Kremlin turntables or made passages as confirmed artists. In 2016, the famous Kremlin, which occupies the building of a former convent, reopened its doors for private events before operating again as a disco on Friday and Saturday evenings. 9. CHEERS – The new disco-pub of the Bairro Alto
Cheers is a place in the spirit of the times, a hybrid between a bar and a nightclub that more and more of you are enjoying. The first floor of the place is a real Irish pub (photo above) and the ground floor serves as a dance floor and sometimes as a concert hall. The walls occupied by the Cheers are mythical because it is the building of the former Frágil disco founded by the owners of LUX, in the heart of Bairro Alto. The pub area is rather intimate and you can stay at the bar and watch sports on the big screen. The club area welcomes the DJ, overhanging the audience but music groups and comedians can also perform. Every Friday and Saturday evening, the Cheers welcomes live rock, jazz, Portuguese or fado music in modern versions. We can come across a band playing in the 80’s style that precedes a DJ who will play the hits of the moment. The place is made for celebration and conviviality. The Príncipe Real district is one of the trendiest area in Lisbon. Very lively in the evening thanks to its proximity to the Bairro Alto district, it is logically a place that shelters very prominent places. The 5A Club is a new dsico-bar that opened its doors in 2018. 3 distinct spaces compose this place: one with tables and high chairs, a dance floor and a cellar with a lounge area. The very dark decoration is very underground. The programation is made by the promoters Match Attack, specialized in electro music but also featuring some hip-hop artists.
